St. Matthew School Discipline/Behavior Policy

  1. Violence or threats of violence (Follow-up based on severity)
  2. Disrespect for the person or property of others
  3. Swearing/profanity
  4. Defacement of school property o&/or materials
  5. Stealing
  6. Accumulation of 3 disciplinary reports for other infractions

1st offense: telephone call with written note to parents (to be signed and returned; copy filed in office). No child will return to class until the note is returned.

2nd offense: in-house suspension, to be overseen by the Principal. All work for the day is to be finished in order for a grade to be given, tests included.

3rd offense: in-house suspension, to be overseen by the Principal; all work must be finished, to keep up with the class, but no credit will be given, resulting in a lowered course grade. Assignments will be given at the discretion of the teacher. (Tests administered to the class on that day will be administered to the student for full credit in the Extended Day Program, at a cost of $5.00 for staff supervision.)

4th offense: home suspension. Parents and students must meet with the teacher and Principal to discuss the matter further and sign a Readmission after Suspension form before the student is readmitted to class This places the student on probation for the remainder of the semester, and may lead to non-enrollment.

5th offense: expulsion
