Dear Parents,

On behalf of St. Matthew School faculty and staff, I extend our warm midsummer greetings. As new Principal of St. Matthew School, this correspondence will serve to introduce myself and to assist you in your preparations for the new school year.

Catholic school education has been my life-long career and vocation. My education degrees are from Salve Regina University, Rhode Island College and Boston University. Half my years of teaching has been in elementary grades; the remainder in high school. Most of my career has been in elementary school administration, the first twelve years in St. Matthew School. It is a privilege and a pleasure to return.

First day of school for Pre-K through Grade 8 is Tuesday, September 1st.

School hours are 7:50AM to 2:30 PM. Students must arrive daily between 7:30 and 7:50 AM. Enter the school via door#1. Sit in the designated areas in the cafeteria. Teachers will meet the students and escort them to their classrooms. Uniforms are to be worn from the first day of school. Bring home made lunches for the first week of school. Milk will be sold during then first day. Students are to bring in their supplies on the first day.Text books must be covered before Labor Day. Label all your child's belongings. Detailed information to prepare your child for the starting of school can be found at the bottom of this page.

School Office summer hours are 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM with regular hours (7:30AM to 3:00 PM)beginning Monday, August 24

August tuition is due. Student medical records with proof of up-to-date immunizations must be in our Business office prior to the first day of school. State law forbids students to enter school without documented proof of required immunizations.

Welcome to our new faculty...

Mrs. Rita Antone, Grade K and Mr. John Pare, Music Education. Both are experienced Catholic school educators who come with excellent recommendations and preparation. Mr. Pare will be directing our Student Theatre in addition to teaching music. We share their excitement about teaching St. Matthew School students.

Wonderful news! The New England Association of Schools and Colleges has again awarded St. Matthew School full accreditation following the school's self-study last March. Congratulations to Father James Collins, Pastor: Miss Elaine Dykstra, former Principal: Father Scott Pontes and Mrs Marybeth Sullivan, faculty, staff and parents for all your time and hard work on the self-study report. Be assured that the faculty and I are committed to quality education for every student in the fine tradition of Catholic school education. To that end, we will closely monitor student achievement, the academic environment and the effectiveness of our school program. The Parent School Association looks to increasing parent and parish involvement in various supportive roles.

St. Matthew School is holding its annual "Orientation for All New Families" on Wednesday August 19th at 7;00 PM in the school cafeteria. This meeting is only for the adults. Some representative teachers and parents will join me in hosting the occasion. Mark your calendar.

Welcome to a new and promising year at St. Matthew School,
Miss Barbara C. Dwyer
Principal
